Around 12:50 a.m., an officer from the Plainville Police Department arrived at a convenience store. He had learned that Nicole Dechant was at the store purchasing food and was reportedly aware that Dechant had a misdemeanor warrant for her arrest. The officer approached Dechant while she was sitting on a curb outside the convenience store and attempted to arrest her. During the interaction, Dechant allegedly reached inside her bag and took out a firearm. The officer ordered her to put down the gun, and the officer shot and killed her.
