OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY:
On 07/04/2021, 34-year-old Joshua Shane Hartigan was killed when his motorcycle left Scottsville Road and crashed during a Glasgow Police Department pursuit in Barren County. Hartigan was living in Glasgow and was formerly from Westmoreland, Tennessee.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., Glasgow police responded to Grandview Avenue following a report of a physical domestic altercation. Kentucky State Police reported that Hartigan left the scene on his motorcycle as Glasgow officers arrived. Glasgow officers pursued him as he traveled toward Scottsville Road.

The pursuit continued to the 6600 block of Scottsville Road. According to the Kentucky State Police reconstruction, Hartigan failed to negotiate a curve and the motorcycle left the roadway. Hartigan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County coroner.

Kentucky State Police Post 3 in Bowling Green investigated the fatal crash at the request of Glasgow police. KSP Trooper Bo Hubbard led the investigation. The Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Barren-Metcalfe EMS and Barren County Coroner also responded.

Hartigan was born on 03/25/1987 in Hendersonville, Tennessee. At the time of his death, he was engaged to Shelby O'Neal and was the father of two children, Aryan Hartigan Sutton and J.C. Hartigan. He was also survived by his parents, four sisters, three brothers and several nieces. His funeral was held three days after his death, followed by burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
