On April 25, 2021, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the Harahan Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Haroleans Street in Harahan, Louisiana. Upon arrival, officers observed a man, identified as 63-year-old David Arseneaux, holding a .40 caliber handgun to the head of his wife, Lisa Arseneaux, a 62-year-old female.

Witnesses reported that Lisa attempted to flee, but David restrained her and dragged her back toward their residence. Officers instructed David to drop the weapon and release his wife. Despite these efforts, David reportedly fired his handgun at Lisa, inflicting fatal injuries.

In response, two Harahan police officers discharged their firearms, striking David multiple times. Both Lisa and David were transported to University Medical Center. Lisa succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. An autopsy confirmed that all projectiles recovered from Lisa’s body matched the caliber of David’s weapon, ruling out police gunfire as the cause of her death.

A trooper from the Florida Highway Patrol allegedly clocked a vehicle at 111 mph on a highway near Tampa. When the trooper attempted to pull over the driver, Jennifer Carvajal, she made a hard right turn, sending the Hyundai Elantra down an embankment. The vehicle went airborne, hitting a concrete light pole and a palm tree. Pedro Carbajal, 22, was killed in the crash. Carvajal, 24, was arrested, and other occupants were injured.

On April 24, 2021, officers with the Gary Police Department pursued a stolen U-Haul truck following a stolen vehicle alert in the area. The pursuit ended when the U-Haul collided with an SUV at 6th Avenue near Colfax Street, struck a utility pole, and rolled over. The male driver of the U-Haul was pronounced dead at the scene. One person in the SUV was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash caused power outages in the area as crews responded to repair downed utility lines. The Gary Police Department is investigating the incident.

On 04/24/2021, Los Angeles police shot and killed 34 year old Richard Solitro following a traffic-related encounter near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Police stated that Solitro cut off a patrol vehicle, then reversed his car and struck the patrol vehicle. Solitro exited his vehicle. Officers opened fire and killed Solitro at the scene.

On 04/24/2021, Metro Nashville police shot and killed 32 year old Marvin Veiga during a traffic stop on Clarksville Pike in the Bordeaux area of Nashville. Officer Christopher Royer initiated the stop after running a license plate check. Police stated that the driver remained in the vehicle and cooperated with the stop.
During the encounter, Veiga exited the vehicle from the passenger side while holding two butcher knives. Officer Royer backed away while issuing commands. As Veiga continued moving toward the officer while holding the knives, Royer opened fire, striking Veiga three times. Veiga died at the scene.

On April 23, 2021, around 5:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of a crash with personal injury in the 1000 block of South Shadeland Avenue in Warren Park, Indiana. An off-duty Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officer was involved in the incident. On April 23, 2021, Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office deputies, alongside a SWAT team, responded to a standoff situation involving 26-year-old Michael Lee McClure in Billings, Montana. The incident began in the late afternoon after McClure barricaded himself inside a residence on Ridgewood Lane South. Law enforcement initiated a standoff that lasted approximately nine hours.Deputies arrived at the scene following reports of an armed individual threatening others. McClure refused to exit the residence or surrender, prompting the deployment of the Yellowstone County SWAT team.
A tactical robot was deployed and multiple drones equipped with thermal imaging and cameras were deployed. SWAT officers fired tear gas and other chemical irritants into the residence to encourage McClure to exit and to limit his ability to maneuver within the house.At approximately 11:00 p.m., SWAT officers breached the residence using a combination of ballistic shields, breaching tools, and tactical flashbangs to disorient McClure. Upon reaching the attic, they encountered McClure, who reportedly charged at officers while attempting to flee.Police engaged in a shootout with him and killed him.

On 04/23/2021, Casa Grande police shot and killed 52 year old Edward Robbesom near the intersection of West McMurray Boulevard and North French Street. Police responded to reports of a shooting and arrived to find Robbesom standing while holding a gun, with a woman on the ground nearby in distress. Officers issued commands for Robbesom to drop the gun. Officer Curtis Kieser opened fire and killed Robbesom at the scene.

On 04/22/2021, Colorado Springs police shot and killed 37 year old Richard Quintana during an encounter near a Phillips 66 gas station on West Garden of the Gods Road. Officers located a vehicle without a license plate and attempted to make contact with the driver, who remained inside the vehicle. The vehicle became disabled after striking a curb, and Quintana exited while holding an AR-15 style rifle.
Quintana placed the rifle under his chin and walked across the gas station parking lot. As he moved toward another person at the gas pumps, an officer attempted to deploy a Taser. A Colorado Springs police officer then opened fire, killing Quintana at the scene.
The El Paso County District Attorney reviewed the shooting and ruled the use of deadly force justified. No officers were charged.

On April 22, 2021, at approximately 7:15 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff's Office received reports of a reckless driver in a red Mitsubishi Eclipse near Port Orford, Oregon. Witnesses reported the driver engaging in dangerous behaviors, including speeding, swerving between lanes, making sudden U-turns, and speeding through town at 60 mph.
The Oregon State Police and Bandon Police Department jointly escalated a pursuit. An Oregon State Police trooper located the vehicle near mile marker 247 on U.S. Highway 101, near Belloni Boys Ranch. A minor collision occurred between the trooper’s vehicle and the red Mitsubishi, prompting the driver to flee southbound on the highway.
The driver then crossed over the double yellow line and collided head-on with a vehicle in the opposite lane.

On 04/21/2021, an officer from the Wyoming Department of Public Safety noticed a vehicle without a license plate near 44th Street SW and S. Division Avenue in Grand Rapids, which matched the description of a stolen car reported earlier that evening. The Wyoming Department of Public Safety is under the city of Wyoming, Michigan, not the state of Wyoming. The officer attempted to pursue Shynia Jones, who was driving the vehicle, but she did not stop. Shortly after, another officer spotted Jones' car and escalated a chase to between 80 and 90 mph. The officer began a pursuit but allegedly “called off the chase” moments before she crashed into another vehicle, then a boulevard median at high speed, became airborne, lost control, and collided with a light pole on the east side of the Street, killing her.

It was later determined that Jones' car was not the stolen vehicle officers were initially looking for.

The driver did not stop and drove northbound on State Route 9. Police continued to chase him into Toquerville, where the driver navigated through side roads and returned to the highway. Around 3:32 a.m., while still being chased, the vehicle rolled over, ejecting the driver. He was pronounced dead at the crash site. A female passenger was hospitalized. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Salt Lake City.

Gouvonvong was wearing body armor, appeared to be armed with what looked like an assault rifle, and had an explosive device with wires attached, along with carrying a backpack. During the encounter, Gouvonvong reportedly became agitated and made a move toward the police. Police shot and killed him.

On April 20, 2021, at approximately 2:17 a.m., a California Highway Patrol officer attempted to stop a white Chevrolet pickup at Fairfax Road and Niles Street for a registration violation. The driver, 25-year-old Branden Lewis LeMay Sr., failed to stop and fled northbound on Fairfax Road before turning westbound onto Panorama Drive. West of Mt. Vernon Avenue, the pickup lost control, veered off the roadway, and rolled down an embankment, landing on its roof in the westbound lane of China Grade Loop. LeMay was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The Kern County Coroner’s Office confirmed LeMay’s identity and ruled the death accidental. No family statements or employment details were released.

On 04/20/2021, Lakewood police shot and killed a man during an armed search near West 3rd Place and Depew Street. Police responded to reports of shots fired and were told that one man had shot another before leaving the area. Officers later located the wounded person at a hospital and established a perimeter to search for the shooter.
During the search, officers encountered the armed man. Police reported that the man threatened to shoot officers. Officers opened fire and killed him at the scene.

On April 20, 2021, Columbus Police Officer Nicholas Reardon responded to a report of a fight outside a residence on the 3100 block of Legion Lane in Columbus, Ohio. Upon arriving at the scene, Reardon observed 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant holding a knife and charging toward another individual.

Reardon fired four shots, striking and killing Bryant. The incident was captured on body camera footage, which showed the moments leading up to and including the shooting.

Edgar Luis Tirado was involved in a string of robberies and a carjacking. While fleeing from the scene, he allegedly pointed a replica handgun at police officers as he ran across the interstate. Officers shot and killed him.

Around 9:38 p.m., officers were called to Valero due to a man reportedly acting "weird." Antonio Cantu began fighting with officers and was placed into a police vehicle. Cantu allegedly got out of the vehicle, took out a semi-automatic firearm, and shot at officers. In response, the officers shot and killed him.

On 04/19/2021, Dothan police shot and killed 39 year old Doward Sylleen Baker following a traffic stop near Trim Street and Third Avenue. An officer stopped Baker’s vehicle for not displaying a license plate. During the stop, police stated the officer observed a firearm inside the vehicle. Baker drove a short distance and stopped again nearby.
Police reported that Baker exited the vehicle while holding a gun. An officer deployed a Taser. During the encounter, police stated that Baker fired a shot that struck an officer in the leg. A second officer arrived, and officers opened fire, killing Baker at the scene.
The Houston County District Attorney reviewed the shooting and ruled the use of deadly force justified. Baker’s family later filed a civil lawsuit against the City of Dothan and the police department seeking damages. The civil case was pending at the time of later reporting.

On 04/19/2021, Fountain police officers and Colorado State Patrol troopers shot and killed 38 year old Robert Paul Garcia following a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs. Law enforcement responded earlier to a reported attempted robbery at a Dairy Queen in Pueblo West. A short time later, officers spotted a pickup truck linked to the incident traveling northbound on I-25 at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
The truck briefly pulled over, and a passenger exited. The driver then accelerated and continued northbound on I-25. South of North Academy Boulevard, a trooper used a patrol vehicle to force the truck off the roadway. During the stop that followed, officers opened fire. Garcia, who was driving the truck, was struck by gunfire and killed at the scene.
The El Paso County District Attorney reviewed the shooting and ruled the use of deadly force justified. No officers were charged.

On 04/18/2021, an incident involving five people being shot and wounded occurred in Detroit, Michigan. A person who was subsequently struck by a car nearby and died was believed to have been involved in this shooting. Following the initial incident, police initiated a pursuit of a black GMC driven by a 27-year-old male man traveling north on Gratiot Avenue. On 04/18/2021, officers from the Burnsville Police Department found Bradley Olsen driving a vehicle with stolen plates when he subsequently crashed. Officers soon received a report that he was involved in a carjacking. Police pursued the carjacked vehicle, and Olsen allegedly fired at pursuing officers before crashing the vehicle and continuing to shoot at police, who then shot and killed him. Officers Dan Anderson, Brent Murray, Paul Oelrich, and Chris Walswick fired their guns.

On April 18, 2021, at approximately 6 p.m., Wayne County Sheriff's deputies attempted to serve outstanding warrants on Donnie Morris Butts Jr., 53, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Butts fled in a pickup truck, leading deputies on a pursuit. During the chase, Butts' vehicle collided with a deputy's cruiser. A second deputy continued the pursuit. Butts lost control of his truck, ran off the road, and collided with a parked big rig. Butts died at the crash site.
