Two Orange County deputies responded to calls just before 5 a.m. of a "burglary in progress" on Van Burden Street near the area of Beach Boulevard and Bolsa. When police arrived, they found the man who was armed with a hatchet. shot and killed him. At this time, it is unclear what led deputies to fire. It is also unknown if the man ever got into the home or if he came in contact with the homeowner.
