OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 05/17/2021, Charles County Sheriff's Office deputies responded after a family member reported that Justin Patrick Powell, who was wanted by police, was experiencing a mental health crisis. Upon arrival at the 6300 block of Josephine Road in Waldorf, two deputies were wounded while attempting to serve a warrant. Powell allegedly shot at the deputies, who then exchanged gunfire. Powell subsequently barricaded himself inside the home. When officers entered, they found Powell dead from gunshot wounds.
