On 11/28/2021, officers from the Seekonk Police Department responded to a report of a break-in at a local business. They later located Jeffrey W. Groulx inside his car in a nearby parking lot. Upon spotting the officers, Groulx fled the scene, leading to a crash at the intersection of US-6 and School St. After the crash, Groulx allegedly opened fire on the officers with an AK-47 rifle. The officers returned fire, resulting in Groulx's death.
