Phabian Jyquez Bynaum, Malik Ezekiel Thomas and Davarius Travon Bynaum were traveling southbound on US 190 and allegedly speeding when a Milam County deputy focused on them and began a chase for a traffic infraction. During the chase, the vehicle’s right tires came off and the driver lost control. The car crossed into the northbound lane, crashed into a tree, rolled upside down and caught on fire with the 3 young men trapped inside. The lethal chase was undertaken because the vehicle had been seen driving too fast. No officers were charged.

Indianapolis Metro PD attempted to pull an allegedly stolen truck over shortly before 5 p.m. near E. 19th St. and Campbell Ave. Police had been notified that a gun was possibly inside the stolen vehicle. The driver, George Leachman, allegedly stopped but then backed up and rammed into the police car, disabling it, then drove away. Leachman crashed into two more police vehicles. At another location, the truck backed up again and slammed into another IMPD car, causing its airbags to deploy, disabling the vehicle. The truck then crashed into a third IMPD car, disabling the vehicle and causing the airbags to deploy. A total of 3 officers were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Two officers shot and killed Leachman.

Lucas County Dispatch received a call from a woman reporting that her husband was shooting a gun around 12:30 a.m. on 01/25/2023. When officers arrived, the woman and adult son had escaped to the roof and the man was in the home alone. Police allege that he then began walking towards officers and pointed the shotgun at them. An unknown number of officers shot and killed him. The coroner reported that he had been shot 22 times in the head, torso, left arm and both legs and ruled his death a homicide. On Saturday night, Jan. 23, 2023, Huu Can Tran opened fire on the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park near Los Angeles, killing 10 people: 5 men and 5 women, all estimated to be over 50. The shooting injured 10 more who were taken to the hospital.
By Sunday morning, LASD had found the white van that belonged to 72-year old Huu Can Tran who was verified by authorities as the shooter. The vehicle was followed by police for several hours before it pulled into a parking lot.SWAT approached the vehicle and a single gunshot was heard. Police found the man dead from suicide under police duress.

Per DOJ, approximately 9:08 p.m., officers from Menomonie PD, Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the University of Wisconsin - Stout PD conducted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle near Terrill Road and Bongey Drive in Menomonie. During the traffic stop, Nicholas L. Ciccarelli, 45, exited the driver side of the vehicle and allegedly approached police with a firearm. Officer Tyson Kahlfrom the Menomonie PP, Lt. Michael Sampson from the Menomonie PD and Deputy Jacob Blum from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office fired shots and killed Ciccarelli. No officers were charged.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department shot Christopher Dearman to death at the intersection of Cesar Chavez Parkway and Logan Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Friday after officers had attempted to pull over a red Dodge Ram truck for a lighting equipment failure but he sped away.Police allege that Dearman stopped 2 blocks later on Logan Avenue, got out of the truck with a handgun and fired "approximately two rounds" toward officers, hitting the SDPD patrol vehicle's hood.
San Diego PD fired back at Dearman, and as he fell to the ground, police then sent a K9 to drag him away in his injured state, stating that he had a gun near him and “did not comply.” It is unknown to what degree he was still able to comply as he died shortly thereafter when taken to the hospital.No officers were charged.

When he stopped, the toddler had severe head trauma and died. He allegedly called the girl’s mother on FaceTime and showed her that the girl was being beaten and strangled during the pursuit. Waters said task force officers pulled over Tyliko Maduro, 32, on the Westside at Interstate 295 and 103rd Street for a traffic violation but were apparently pursuing him due to a previous police encounter.
During the prior traffic stop that started the targeting of Maduro, Maduro had allegedly admitted running a red light. Bodycam footage shown at the news briefing showed officers talking to the man and then asking to search the vehicle. It is not clear why police wanted to search a vehicle when the stated offense was running a red light. Maduro drove off during the traffic stop and police went to a home on Ridgeview Avenue near Morse Avenue to “conduct a door knock.” Officers made contact with Maduro’s mother, who agreed to open the door.
Officers claim they did not have their guns drawn but that one officer had a taser out. When the mother opened the door, Maduro allegedly fired shots at police.
SWAT arrived and Maduro continued to fire several shots and then allegedly committed suicide under police duress. Maduro had no prior record of criminal convictions before this incident.No officers were charged.

While investigating a burglary in which a smartwatch was stolen, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, police tracked the watch to Leon Burroughs and found him asleep in a car on Hardee Street.
Jacksonville deputies allegedly saw a gun on the hood of the car and moved it to the back. They then tried to get Leon Burroughs out of the car. In the video, Leon Burroughs can be heard responding, asking them to move the flashlights, and one officer does. “He had just woke up. He didn’t have time to get no gun. He just woke up, and they had the lights flashing, and he said, ‘What’s going on?’ And they shot him,” his grandmother said. Burroughs was shot and killed. His grandmother doesn’t believe this shooting was justified. No officers were charged.
