On October 29, 2021, Clinton police attempted to intercept a man accused of stealing a truck from Jackson and driving into Clinton. The man refused to stop, leading to a chase that ended with him returning to Jackson. After reportedly ramming a police cruiser and crashing, the man exited his vehicle and engaged in a physical altercation with an officer, resulting in the police shooting and killing him.
