On September 21, 2021, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to South 11th Street and Lewis Avenue due to reports of a man with a gun. The man, Trent Xavier Leach, ran into an abandoned building. Per police, Leach allegedly began shooting indiscriminately into the surrounding area. At least one officer opened fire and shot and killed him.
