On 07/23/2021, at approximately 10:19 p.m., Asbury Park Police Department officers responded to a home at 305 7th Avenue where James Manzo, 27, was allegedly behaving erratically. Officers entered the building and attempted to speak with Manzo, but their efforts to communicate with him were unsuccessful. When an officer tried to enter Manzo’s room, Manzo allegedly attempted to stab the officer with a pair of scissors. Officer James R. Crawford shot and killed Manzo.
