On 12/20/2022, Bossier City Police responded to reports of a shooting at the Parkland Villa Apartments on Shed Road in Bossier City, where a 43-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound and later died. The officer turned his vehicle around to conduct a traffic stop. The Mercedes quickly turned onto Griffin St and crashed the vehicle into the front porch of a residence in the 300 block of N. Griffin St. The Mercedes reversed away from the residence and the driver drove through the front yard and back onto Griffin St and then turned onto Seminary St. The officer observed the driver failed to stop at the red light at Seminary St and Bowman Ave and the Mercedes continued through the intersection. Responding deputies found a suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Wilmer Soto, barricaded inside the home. The sheriff’s Tactical Support Group attempted to establish communications with Soto before entering the residence. Inside, law enforcement located Soto deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Three other adults inside the home were found dead from gunshot injuries related to the incident. The sheriff’s office reported Soto had a domestic relationship with one of the victims.

On 12/17/2022, the California Highway Patrol and Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on southbound Highway 41 near Ashlan Avenue after a 911 call reporting a domestic violence incident. Investigators say that Kou Vue of Fresno pulled over his vehicle after convincing the women inside to stop on the shoulder and then opened fire, killing 28-year-old Ta-Sheng Ly, the sister of his estranged ex-girlfriend. The victim was transported to a hospital where she later died. CHP and sheriff’s deputies tracked Vue’s vehicle shortly afterward on Highway 99 northbound. At a freeway offramp in Fresno, officers heard a single gunshot from Vue’s car. Police later determined that Vue had shot himself and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while law enforcement was attempting to locate and contact him.
