OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On November 26, 2021, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a New Mexico State Police officer arrived at a Starbucks on Promenade Boulevard in Santa Fe and was informed by employees that the store had just been robbed by a man and a woman with firearms. The suspects fled in a black Kia without a license plate. A pursuit ensued, with the suspects traveling south on Richards Avenue, then north on Interstate 25, and subsequently south on U.S. 285. During the chase, the female passenger, identified as Christean "Christy" Ann Dimas, fired shots at officers. Officers from the New Mexico State Police, Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office, and Torrance County Sheriff's Office returned fire. The vehicle crashed near Clines Corners, and the driver, Jacob Montoya, was apprehended. Dimas was found deceased in the passenger seat. Montoya was airlifted to a nearby trauma center for gunshot wounds and later booked into the Torrance County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including assaulting a peace officer and shooting from a motor vehicle. No officers were injured during the incident.
