McCreary had allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and stolen her dog and demanded she speak with him to get her dog returned safely before running off into a wooded area when police arrived. He was recorded yelling "Fuck you!" at police before they shot and killed him around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023.
