On December 30, 2024, Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies pursued a 30-year-old man from Seminole at high speed for a window tint violation. The man, driving a 2023 Dodge Charger, allegedly began driving recklessly under pursuit pressure near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street and 7th Avenue in St. Petersburg. Florida Highway Patrol joined the pursuit, deploying spike strips. The man continued driving at an unspecified speed before crashing at the intersection of 16th St. S and 7th Ave. N. The driver was pronounced dead at the crash site.
