On November 18, 2021, police sought Chucky Nathaniel Bowden, 53, in connection with an armed robbery earlier that day. Officers spotted Bowden's vehicle and initiated a pursuit, during which Bowden reportedly crashed his car. Shots were exchanged before Bowden fled to a nearby store where he allegedly held multiple people hostage. Police entered the store, and during the confrontation, Bowden was fatally shot by officers. The circumstances surrounding the exchange of gunfire remain under investigation.
