On June 14, 2021, officers from the Parma Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 64-year-old Kevin Richard Giesel. Giesel allegedly fled the traffic stop and locked himself inside his home on the 5700 block of South Park Boulevard in Parma, Ohio. Police escalated a standoff at the residence.
During the standoff, Giesel exited the home, and police engaged him in a shootout. He was shot and killed. Police did not confirm whose bullet caused his death.
