A Dallas man whom police chased after a burglary died Wednesday after striking another vehicle then colliding with a pole in Richardson following a police pursuit.

On 12/01/2022 at about 7:30 p.m., the South Bend Police Department responded to the 6400 block of Armstrong Drive after receiving a report of an assault and possible shooting. Officers found a 66-year-old woman, later identified as Catherine Cleveland, outside the home suffering from a gunshot wound; she was taken to a hospital and died from her injuries. As police were responding, Alfred Cleveland barricaded himself inside the residence. Crisis negotiators and the South Bend SWAT team were called in and engaged with him for several hours. After he stopped communicating with negotiators, officers deployed a chemical agent to gain entry. Inside the home, officers found Alfred Cleveland suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mesa PD were called for a man sleeping in a pickup truck in front of a Seven Eleven. Police discovered it had been reported stolen out of Chandler. Police gathered and surrounded the vehicle, yelled orders with the PA system, ordered the sleeping man out, began firing beanbags at the vehicle. The man stirred, seemed to wake up and began eating, still ignoring the officers around his vehicle. The man was boxed in and “squealing the tires” according to police, trying to get out of being surrounded by attacking police. The car ran into a patrol car while trying to get unstuck and the driver was executed by several officers while driving.

Federal and local police arrived at a residence to serve an arrest warrant for David Orlando Andrade Gomez. Police volunteered very little information what transpired but a witness stated that they ordered him to come outside. He allegedly cooperated and came out. On 11/30/2022, Lowellville police responded to reports of gunshots at a residence on the 300 block of Watson Street. Officers found two victims — 55-year-old Deborah Pratt-Hudak and her 25-year-old daughter, Cathryn Hudak — both suffering from gunshot wounds; both women were pronounced dead. Investigators identified 38-year-old Jonathan D. Crago of Girard as the suspect and issued aggravated murder warrants for him. Law enforcement agencies including the Mahoning County Homicide Task Force and area police departments located Crago later that evening in Parma, Ohio. During a vehicle pursuit and subsequent standoff, Crago fatally shot himself inside a vehicle while officers closed in on him. His death occurred as law enforcement was actively attempting to arrest him on the homicide warrants.

Phoenix PD attempted a traffic stop on a car they felt may have been linked to a robbery. Police chased the car which crashed through a fence. A man emerged. Police allege he “showed” a gun and was shot and killed. Several BWC videos linked below show that police found him crashed against the fence and immediately fired at least 9 rounds from a semiautomatic handgun, killing him without him threatening anyone. Police alleged that despite their numerous shots, he died after that from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. A terrified female passenger was pulled from the car.

Frederick County deputies arrived at the scene of a stabbing in Frederick, MD, finding the mother of Aaron Fifi Onomah Mensah injured with multiple stab wounds and the father deceased from many stab wounds. The attacker had been their son Aaron Mensah. A large police presence gathered in the area and when Mensah was sighted, he was shot dead.

For undisclosed reasons, the Cherokee Nation Marshals Service came to arrest Francis Englebright. He allegedly showed a weapon, then barricaded himself into his home. At approximately 12:10 p.m. on 11/29/2022, a Haverhill PD detective observed a motorcyclist pull into the Seven Eleven gas station at 503 River St. without a helmet. The motorcycle was unregistered and uninsured. The motorcyclist then fled the scene on foot and the detective pursued him on foot.
Kimball said other Haverhill Police units were called to help apprehend the man, who ran behind a building at 337 River St. Police followed the man and found him deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Kimball said. He was not publicly identified.

Reymundo Flores was wanted on a fugitive warrant in Guadalupe County for violating probation by not stopping for an officer. At about 2:26 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies saw him walking near US-181 and State Highway 97. Flores tried to evade the deputies and continued walking south toward Floresville High School. Wilson County deputies locked down 3 schools and allege that he shot at police with a handgun. Police shot and killed him.

Harris County Precinct One deputy constables were in a vehicle pursuit with the driver of a grey Honda Civic driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the Hardy Toll Road. The deputies drove parallel with the wrong way vehicle in the correct lane with emergency equipment activated. The Civic continued to drive the wrong way eastbound in the westbound lanes of the North Loop. The driver of the Civic then struck a Chevrolet Tahoe head-on. The driver of the Civic was pronounced dead at the scene.

Philadelphia PDchased what they believed to be a stolen Cadillac Escalade. During the chase, the car crashed into two vehicles and struck Bill Repko who was in a wheelchair panhandling at Aramingo and Castor avenues. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A Springfield PD officer was stopped at a red light on 42nd Street and Main Street when they saw a dark-colored Range Rover pass him eastbound on Main Street. Police tried to chase it but temporarily lost track of it. They said the car was going 80-90 miles per hour. Police began searching for the car when they said they got a 911 call about a car crash in the 3800 block of Highway 126. Officials said they arrived “within seconds,” to find the driver of the Ranger Rover dead. Of note, officers can only be at a crash site within seconds if they are actively pursuing the vehicle prior to the crash.

Solano County deputies responded to reports of a robbery, located Robert Duncan Jr. and deployed a K9 to attack him. He allegedly fired a gun and police shot and very deliberately killed him. Officer Dalton McCampbell who killed Duncan has a history of excessive force and was sued for the beating of a black woman in Dixon in 2020.

On 11/27/2022, Dearborn police and Michigan State Police were attempting to stop a black Dodge Charger connected to an endangered missing persons investigation out of Tennessee. The vehicle, driven by 36-year-old Dominique Hardwick of Lebanon, Tennessee, fled and crashed into a home near Normile Street and Tireman Avenue on the Detroit-Dearborn border. Officers issued verbal commands and at some point exchanged gunfire with the driver. After the crash and shooting, officers found Hardwick in the driver’s seat with a fatal gunshot wound. An autopsy later determined the wound was self-inflicted. A 34-year-old female front-seat passenger was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital. On 11/26/2022, Johnny Lee Nichols, 51, of Moss Point, who was wanted on an attempted murder warrant related to an earlier stabbing incident in Marion County, contacted the Moss Point Police Department indicating he intended to turn himself in. When an officer met Nichols near 2nd Street Park, Nichols was armed with a firearm. Officers attempted to verbally persuade him to disarm, but Nichols then shot himself. He was taken to Singing River Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from the self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On 11/26/2022, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the 36000 block of US-69 near Jacksonville after receiving a 911 call from a man who said he was holding his wife and daughter hostage inside the home. When deputies and DPS troopers arrived at the scene, the man was armed with a firearm and confronted law enforcement. Officers defended themselves during the confrontation, shooting the man. He was transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds. His wife and daughter were reported to be safe and unharmed. Texas Rangers were assigned to investigate the officer-involved shooting.

Virginia’s Washington County deputy Austin Lee Edwards catfished a teenage girl online and traveled to California, abducted her, killed her grandparents Mark and Sharie Winek and her mother Brooke Winek and took the girl after setting the house on fire. SWAT caught up with him and shot and killed him. The girl survived.

Deputies tried to stop the 21-year-old driver for speeding along County Highway C about three miles outside of Waupun until the car crashed into a tree, killing the driver.

Corpus Christi PD went to the 3000 block of Antelope Street in Corpus Christi on a domestic disturbance call. Police claimed that Jose Torres held a knife and officer LaBatto shot and killed him.

DPS pursued Angela Nuckols because they felt the grey Altima she was driving may be stolen. DPS initiated a high-speed chase and Nuckols crashed into another vehicle. The driver was not hurt significantly and Nuckols got out of the vehicle and allegedly held a gun and was shot and killed.
