On June 6, 2021, Tulsa Police officers responded to reports of gunfire at a residence near North Peoria Avenue and East Pine Street. Upon arrival, they encountered a man waving a firearm outside the home. The individual retreated into the house, leading to a prolonged standoff. After several hours, the man emerged and allegedly pointed his weapon at officers. A police sniper then fatally shot him.
