On April 24, 2021, officers from the Webbers Falls Police Department, with assistance from the Muskogee County Sheriff's Office, attempted to arrest 29-year-old Benjamin Ridley, who had outstanding warrants, near the Webbers Falls Lock and Dam. Upon arrival, Ridley was reportedly seen with a handgun. During the encounter, officers opened fire and killed him.
