On 11/16/2022, deputies attempted to pull over Aaron Osgood for reckless driving in Modesto late at night. Osgood fled on foot into a business in the 100 block of Empire Avenue, and law enforcement officers established a perimeter around the building. A drone confirmed Osgood was on the roof of the structure, and deputies issued repeated commands for him to surrender. At about 11:15 p.m., Osgood crawled to the edge of the roof and fired multiple shots in the direction of deputies, who took cover and did not return fire. Osgood then fatally shot himself with a firearm while law enforcement was actively engaged in the incident. A vehicle and firearm found at the scene were later determined to be stolen, and records showed Osgood had several felony arrest warrants at the time of the encounter.

After deputies knocked on the door, gunshots were heard from inside the unit. A standoff followed and crisis negotiators attempted to make contact while authorities shut down portions of the 101 Freeway for several hours. Deputies later entered the apartment and found the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A clerk at the Shell gas station on the southeast corner of 159th St. and Dixie Hwy. in Harvey called 911 and complained that an “irate woman with a gun” was vandalizing the store. Harvey PD and Hazel Crest PD responded to the call and the woman got into the vehicle and proceeded to drive southbound on Dixie Highway at a high rate of speed. The Harvey police officer escalated a chase which reached a high rate of speed. The fleeing vehicle swerved to avoid another vehicle, lost control, and crashed into a sign at 170th Street, split in two and all three of the occupants were ejected. Two died at the scene and another was transported to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn in critical condition. The third victim has also died.

One motorist died in a crash at the end of the chase.Police chased an allegedly stolen car until it crashed, resulted in the death of bystander ArturoTlapa Luna. Marlboro police officer Sgt. Greg Arrone escalated a chase of the car that ended after the car hit several other vehicles on Route 9 south in Old Bridge in the area of Spring Valley Road shortly after 2 a.m. The occupant of one of the bystander cars, 33-year-old Freehold resident Arturo Tlapa-Luna, was killed in the crash. His wife, father and two daughters were also in the car and suffered severe injuries but survived.
