Christon Collins, a 27-year-old Black male and U.S. Army veteran, was found dead in his cell at the DeKalb County Jail in March 2024. Collins was reportedly experiencing a PTSD-related mental health crisis and had been placed on a 1013 mental health hold. His family alleges that after a fall, Collins was left unattended on the floor for hours, leading to his death.

An independent autopsy requested by the family revealed unexplained bruising and raised serious concerns after discovering that several of Collins' internal organs were missing. The missing organs and bruising have fueled the family's suspicions of neglect and potential misconduct. The family is demanding the release of surveillance footage and accountability for Collins' death.
