Paul Green, a 36-year-old male inmate at Allen County Jail in Fort Wayne, Indiana, was found unresponsive in his cell on August 19, 2024. Jail staff discovered Green unresponsive at 2:50 a.m., shortly after he was observed moving in his cell at 2:38 a.m. Green was transported to Lutheran Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The Allen County Coroner determined the cause of death to be peritonitis, an infection often resulting from a perforation in the bowel or a burst appendix. Green had been incarcerated since August 8, 2024, and was on a medical watch list at the time of his death. The Indiana State Police, at the request of the Allen County Sheriff, are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Green's death.
