On January 8, 2025, 66-year-old Patricia Hepworth was fatally shot by Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) officers during a standoff at Parkview Studios on Harris Road in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The incident began when Indiana State Parole officers attempted to serve a felony parole violation warrant to Hepworth, who had been released on parole in 2023 after serving 22 years of a 50-year sentence for attempted murder and arson. Upon arrival, Hepworth barricaded herself inside her apartment while armed with a knife. FWPD's Emergency Services Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Unit were dispatched to assist. Despite multiple attempts to contact and de-escalate the situation, officers eventually fired shots, striking Hepworth. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her death was ruled a homicide due to police action. One officer sustained minor injuries during the incident.
