On November 26, 2024, at approximately 8:12 p.m., Georgia State Patrol (GSP) troopers observed a black 2015 Infiniti Q50 traveling northbound in Catoosa County at 114 mph in a 70 mph zone. Troopers attempted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Hugo Julian Urbano Chavez of Dalton, Georgia, did not stop. Troopers escalated a chase to unknown speeds. As Chavez approached Exit 348, he attempted to pass vehicles on the left shoulder, lost control, crossed all northbound lanes, struck a guardrail, and overturned.
