The individual fatally shot by a Centralia Police Department officer on January 12, 2025, has been identified as Alecandro A. Castaneda, 23, of Centralia, Washington.The incident occurred around 10:56 a.m. when Officer Ruben Ramirez responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment complex in the 400 block of North Ash Street. Upon arrival, a physical altercation ensued between Officer Ramirez and Mr. Castaneda, during which the officer opened fire, striking Mr. Castaneda. Despite emergency medical treatment at the scene, Mr. Castaneda was pronounced dead.Officer Ramirez, a K9 officer with the Centralia Police Department since 2001, sustained injuries during the altercation and has been placed on administrative leave, per department protocol.
