NARRATIVE:
On 04/22/2021, Jeffrey Adams, 78, of Bandon was riding as a passenger in a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Dawn Adams on U.S. Highway 101. Cory Marcus Orsenico, 32, crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into their vehicle. Jeffrey and Dawn both died at the scene.

Police had received reports of Orsenico's dangerous driving for more than an hour, including speeding, swerving, unsafe passing, sudden U-turns, cutting off vehicles, running red lights and traveling more than 60 mph through a Bandon school zone. Multiple agencies were attempting to locate him.

An Oregon State Police trooper encountered Orsenico near mile marker 247 and turned around to follow him. The patrol vehicle and Mitsubishi made minor contact during the maneuver before Orsenico accelerated southbound.

Investigators determined that Orsenico subsequently crossed the double-yellow line and deliberately drove into the vehicle carrying Jeffrey and Dawn. Orsenico also died at the scene.

Jeffrey and Dawn's deaths were confirmed in local death notices following the crash. Jeffrey was 78 and Dawn was 54, and both were Bandon residents.
