Several observed moving violations.

EVENT NARRATIVE:
On 12/27/2021, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Punxsutawney Borough Police Department officers attempted to stop a red 2011 Dodge Caliber driven by 53-year-old Robert Michael George for several observed moving violations. George continued driving away while police escalated a high-speed chase south on State Route 119 from Punxsutawney toward Big Run.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., the chase reached Big Run. As George attempted a left turn onto Main Street, the Dodge failed to remain in its lane and crashed into the Best Kawasaki motorcycle dealership at 100 East Main Street. The impact caused extensive structural damage to the building. George was pronounced dead following the crash.

George, a Big Run resident originally from Hamburg, New York, worked at Sensus Metering Systems in DuBois. He had previously worked as a nursing-home caregiver and in construction and remodeling.
