On 01/13/2025, the San Diego Police Department responded to a call regarding a suicidal 26-year-old man inside the Broadway Towers near E Street and Park Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers escorted six individuals out of the apartment. They then encountered the man holding a knife. Officers opened fire, striking the individual. Life-saving measures were attempted, and the man was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.
