OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 18, 2024, 40-year-old Duane John Ventimiglia Jr. was found unresponsive in his cell at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center in San Antonio, Texas. A deputy had interacted with Ventimiglia at approximately 8:52 a.m., noting he was sitting upright in his bunk. Six minutes later, the deputy returned with a new uniform and found Ventimiglia unresponsive. Emergency medical assistance was immediately initiated, but Ventimiglia was pronounced dead at 9:47 a.m. Authorities indicated that he may have suffered a medical episode associated with a history of substance abuse. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death. Ventimiglia had been arrested by the San Antonio Police Department on April 13, 2024, for criminal trespassing, a Class B misdemeanor. His bond was reduced from $1,000 to $25 on April 17, and he was scheduled to appear in court on the day of his death.
