Daniel Scott Meadows was shot and killed at the intersection of Route 60 and Sandidges Road on 06/01/2023 by an Amherst County deputy who responded to that intersection for reports of a man acting erratically. The deputy approached Meadows, claims he pulled a machete. The deputy shot Meadows. His mother disputes this, states her son couldn't have done this. The family has been trying to get answers about what happened from police."I really think this was a needless death," she said. "And I think... I think my boy was murdered. And that's the way I feel about it."
