Brandon Canfield, a 50-year-old resident of South Lake Tahoe, was found unresponsive in his cell at the El Dorado County Jail on November 29, 2024. Despite immediate life-saving measures by jail staff, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The cause of death is currently under investigation by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.
Canfield had been in custody since August 31, 2024, following his arrest by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department for a felony parole violation.
