On January 21, 2025, the Texas Department of Public Safety chased Kimberly Lannigan, 59, at high speed along State Highway 6 near Navasota, Texas, for undisclosed reasons. During the pursuit, Lannigan’s vehicle collided head-on with a patrol car driven by Sergeant Mark Butler of the Navasota Police Department. Both Lannigan and Butler were killed in the collision.
