On November 25, 2023, 49-year-old Raul Ortiz Jr. was found unresponsive in his cell at the Larimer County Jail in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was pronounced dead in his cell. An autopsy determined that the cause of death was a fatal overdose from mixed drug toxicity, involving methamphetamine and fentanyl. The manner of death was ruled as accidental.
