On 09/16/2021, Walker County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot and killed 38-year-old Dan Ross Boyd II at a residence in the 5300 block of FM 1374 outside Huntsville after responding at approximately 10:48 a.m. to a 911 call reporting a disturbance involving a person with a weapon.

Boyd was born July 5, 1983, in Orlando, Florida. He was married and the father of three children and worked for Vista Ridge Concrete. His family obituary described him as a devoted father and son who enjoyed cooking and fishing.

According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, a family member called 911 and reported a disturbance involving Boyd and a firearm. Police alleged that Boyd had discharged a firearm several times while other people were inside the residence.
