REASON FOR CHASE: Speeding without headlights

NARRATIVE:
On 04/02/2021 at approximately 4:20 a.m., a Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constable observed a man driving a Chevrolet Camaro at high speed without headlights in the 2700 block of West Sam Houston Parkway North. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, and the driver continued away at high speed while the deputy pursued.

The pursuit lasted approximately four minutes. Precinct 5 reported that deputies never caught up with the Camaro during the chase. The driver exited the West Sam Houston Parkway at Clay Road and entered the intersection against a red light.

The Camaro struck a Ford Ranger traveling west on Clay Road. Both vehicles caught fire, and the Camaro driver and the uninvolved driver of the Ford Ranger were killed at the scene.
