OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
DPS troopers were pursuing a red Dodge pickup truck, which crashed head-on into a white Ford F-150. Eight undocumented passengers—seven men and one woman—were killed in the Dodge pickup. The driver and a child passenger from the Ford pickup, along with one undocumented passenger from the Dodge, were transported to a hospital in San Antonio. The alleged driver of the red pickup, Sebastian Tovar, 24, of Austin, was apprehended after attempting to flee and was charged with "transporting illegal aliens resulting in death."
