OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Just before 12:30 a.m., a man walked into the parking lot of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's substation in Paramount, wielding a machete and banging on a patrol vehicle. A deputy inside another vehicle approached and ordered him to drop the weapon. The man continued walking toward the deputy, who then opened fire, killing him. The man was estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old. Investigators were still processing the crime scene.
