.
OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY:
On 06/28/2021, 22-year-old Jose Manuel Delgado Alva of Manassas was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed during a Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office pursuit on U.S. Route 29 in Fauquier County.
.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., a Fauquier County deputy observed Delgado Alva traveling north on a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle in the 10600 block of Marsh Road. The Sheriff’s Office alleged that he was driving recklessly. The deputy activated emergency equipment and attempted to stop him, then pursued when Delgado Alva continued north.
.
The pursuit continued north onto James Madison Highway/U.S. Route 29, with additional law-enforcement officers assisting as it progressed toward Warrenton.
.
Near the 7600 block of the Eastern Bypass, Delgado Alva attempted to enter a crossover near Comfort Inn Drive. Virginia State Police said he was traveling too fast to negotiate the maneuver and lost control of the motorcycle.
.
The motorcycle traveled through the median and entered the southbound lanes of Route 29, where it struck a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze and a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Delgado Alva was wearing a helmet and died at the scene. The drivers of the two other vehicles suffered minor injuries.
.
Virginia State Police investigated the fatal crash at the request of the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office also announced that it would conduct an internal review of the pursuit under department policy.
.
Delgado Alva appears to have attended Patriot High School in Nokesville, Virginia, where an athletic record lists Jose Delgado-Alva as a member of the Class of 2017 who competed in track and field, including the 800-meter run, discus and shot put. Because the athletic record does not itself reference his death, this biographical identification should be treated cautiously rather than as conclusively established.
.

Jose Manuel Delgado Alva was killed. The drivers of the Chevrolet Cruze and Chrysler Town & Country suffered minor injuries.
.
OFFICER BACKGROUND:
The Fauquier County sheriff’s deputy who initiated the traffic stop and pursuit has not been publicly identified in the contemporary Sheriff’s Office account, Virginia State Police reporting, or additional indexed reporting located for this case.
.
DISPOSITION:
The involved Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office deputy or deputies were not criminally charged for their roles in initiating or participating in the pursuit.
