On March 18, 2021, a Virginia State Police trooper attempted to stop a 2008 Dodge Avenger driven by Stephanie T. Morton for speeding. Morton fled from the scene, and the pursuit led to the Dodge crashing head-on into a 2020 Ford pickup truck driven by Kenneth E. Crosby Jr.. The Dodge caught fire, resulting in the deaths of both Stephanie T. Morton and her passenger, Tia O. Porter. Morton was the driver of the fleeing vehicle and was killed in the crash.
