On September 3, 2021, around 6 a.m., a U.S. Border Patrol agent apprehended four migrants near the Rio Grande River in Laredo, Texas. The agent handcuffed the four migrants to each other using three pairs of handcuffs. As the agent assisted the migrants through a barbed wire fence en route to a Border Patrol unit, a female migrant managed to slip her hand from the handcuff. She then ran approximately 50 feet toward the Rio Grande and fell from a 20-foot cliff in the darkness, sustaining fatal injuries. The Laredo Fire Department arrived at the scene and declared her deceased. The incident is under review by the Laredo Police Department, the Webb County Medical Examiner's Office, and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Professional Responsibility. The DHS Office of Inspector General was notified of the incident.

On September 2, 2021, Michael Ouellette, 37, president of the Italian-American Club in Warren, Rhode Island, fatally shot Assistant Fire Chief Brian Remy, 66, and wounded Jason Furtado, 41, inside the club. After the shootings, Ouellette fled the scene on foot. Bristol Police Chief Kevin Lynch and Major Scott McNally, responding to the incident, encountered Ouellette on Water Street. Deputies were called after a man rammed several vehicles during an altercation with family members at a church. They spotted him driving the wrong way down the Hardy Toll Road. On September 1, 2021, at approximately 3:30 PM, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) deputies responded to reports of a public disturbance in the 6400 block of Park Manor Drive in Metairie, Louisiana. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Anne Marie Schilly, a 65-year-old woman, reportedly agitated and behaving erratically. Witnesses stated that Schilly was directing racial slurs and profanities toward parish workers repairing a water main. Specific remarks included the use of the N-word and commands such as, "Go back to your country," directed at the workers. This behavior was captured by bystanders on video.

Deputies approached Schilly to de-escalate the situation, but she refused to cooperate, entered her vehicle, and fled the scene. In the process, Schilly dragged one of the responding deputies with her car for a short distance before breaking free.

During the chase, she reportedly attempted to strike multiple individuals with her vehicle. On August 30, 2021, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Brevard County Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop near Interstate 95 and State Road 192 in West Melbourne, Florida. The vehicle had three adult occupants and a 2-month-old infant. During the stop, deputies asked passenger Paris Wilder to exit the vehicle. Wilderimmediately opened the door armed with a rifle and began shooting at the deputies. Deputies opened fire, resulting in Wilder's death. One deputy was shot in the lower leg and sustained a non-life-threatening injury. The injured deputy was also attacked by Wilder with multiple strikes to the head with the butt of the rifle. As the attack on the injured deputy continued, the original deputy was able to end the threat by using deadly force and shooting Wilder.

On August 29, 2021, at approximately 4:15 a.m., 24-year-old Michael Rosado and his 44-year-old father, Rafael Rosado, were involved in a dispute with a group of individuals on Valentine Avenue in the Bronx. The dispute escalated to a physical altercation, during which Michael Rosado allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired several shots.

Two off-duty NYPD officers, who had just completed their shifts at the nearby 46th Precinct, witnessed the shooting and intervened. Michael Rosado allegedly turned and fired several shots at the officers. In response, the officers returned fire, fatally shooting Rosado. In January 2025, Larry Eugene Price, Jr. died from starvation and severe neglect while detained at Sebastian County Jail in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Price had been incarcerated because he lacked $100 bail. During his time in custody, Price was subjected to inhumane conditions, including confinement in a cell with standing water and urine, which left his hands and feet shriveled. Reports revealed that Price was so severely neglected that he resorted to consuming his own feces before dying. Larry Price Jr., 51, was found by guards lying in a pool of his own urine and contaminated water, unresponsive in August 2021 after having been detained for more than a year. On August 28, 2021, around 9 p.m., Fort Smith Police pursued a stolen box truck occupied by a male driver and a female passenger into Arkoma, Oklahoma. As an Elmira officer entered the park to arrest 53-year-old David G. Wandell, he allegedly pointed a black revolver at her from about 20 yards away. He then assaulted Officer J.M. Chavez, striking him multiple times in the face and head and attempting to choke him. Moore also attempted to seize Officer Chavez's firearm during the struggle.

Officers A.L. Dellinger and R.T. Brooks responded to the scene after hearing the commotion. Observing Moore’s assault on Officer Chavez and his attempt to remove the firearm, Officer Dellinger discharged his service weapon, fatally striking Moore. Officer Brooks also fired his weapon during the incident.

The officers involved were placed on administrative duty while the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation conducted an independent review. The investigation concluded that the use of deadly force was justified under North Carolina law and common law self-defense principles.

Upon arrival, officers encountered 36-year-old Kenneth Vessell, who had reportedly shot and injured two individuals: a man in his 70s and a teenage boy. Both victims were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

On August 24, 2021, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Buffalo Police officers initiated a pursuit of a vehicle near the intersection of Sycamore Avenue and Fillmore Avenue. The vehicle did not stop. Officers escalated a chase on Bailey Avenue. The pursued vehicle ran a red light and was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Bailey Avenue and Doat Street.

A woman, who was a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle being pursued, was killed in the crash. The identity of the deceased woman has not been disclosed.

On 08/24/2021, a 911 call was made around 6:54 a.m. reporting an erratic man jumping in and out of traffic on the 300 block of West Jefferson Street in Butler City, Pennsylvania. Officers from the Butler City Police Department arrived at 6:57 a.m. Upon encountering John Ebberts, a physical altercation ensued. During the struggle, Ebberts reportedly stabbed the officer multiple times, prompting the officer to fatally shoot Ebberts around 6:59 a.m. The incident remains under investigation.

On August 23, 2021, Virginia State Police initiated a pursuit of a man driving a gray Jeep on Interstate 81 in Botetourt County. The driver, who was wanted in Pennsylvania, failed to pull over when attempted to be stopped by a trooper. The chase, reaching speeds over 100 mph, continued through Roanoke County, Salem, and into Montgomery County. During the pursuit, the suspect communicated with dispatch, stating he was armed. Spike strips were deployed, and the chase ended when police forced the vehicle off the road, causing it to crash. After the crash, the man reportedly shot and killed himself.

Officers were dispatched to the area of SE Fifth Street and Browning after several reports of a man with a handgun in the neighborhood. They located Trinidad Marry at the intersection of Eighth Street and Browning. Marry allegedly pointed his gun at officers and others as he walked down the street. Officers continued to speak with him and walked with him to the 500 block of S. Bivins Street, where they shot and killed him.

On August 22, 2021, Greenfield Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Tyron Christamar Lamb near the city's border with Milwaukee at 1:36 a.m. Lamb initially stopped the vehicle but then drove off, prompting a police pursuit. After about two miles, Lamb crashed the vehicle in Milwaukee and exited the car, reportedly starting to shoot at officers. Lamb struck a 36-year-old officer multiple times. In response, two officers involved in the pursuit opened fire and killed Lamb.

On August 21, 2021, deputies from the Rankin County Sheriff's Office responded to what was initially reported as a medical call but turned out to be a domestic disturbance. They discovered Shannon Trevor McKinley had an outstanding felony warrant for domestic violence. McKinley was located in the attic of the residence and refused to comply with police commands to surrender. While attempting to climb down to escape, he fired a handgun at the deputies, who then shot and killed him.

About 7:30 p.m., police received reports of a person looking into vehicle windows. An officer responded to the area where he found Brandon Lee Schlichting. When the officer tried to contact Schlichting, Schlichting allegedly pulled a gun and aimed it at the officer, who shot and killed him.

At approximately 9:35 a.m., officers conducting surveillance for a fugitive saw a man matching the description approach an apartment. When officers approached, George Michael Mireles allegedly fired shots at them. In response, three officers shot and killed Mireles.

Nicolas "Nico" Matthew Romero, 18, was killed in a crash at the intersection of NM-68 and NM-518 in Ranchos De Taos, New Mexico. Taos County sheriff's deputies were pursuing Joshua Maestas, who allegedly fled while officers attempted to arrest him for violating parole. Please continue the high-speed chase until the vehicle crashed into Romero, killing him.
