On 03/29/2021, at approximately 3:50 a.m., LAPD officers attempted to stop Matthew Blaylock near 7th and Bixel Streets. Blaylock fled on foot, and officers escalated a chase that ended near 8th and Bixel Streets, where Blaylock allegedly produced a handgun. Officers opened fire, killing him. A handgun was recovered at the scene. Body camera footage of the incident has been released and is under review. The LAPD's Force Investigation Division is investigating the shooting, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office will review the case.

On March 29, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Deputy Justin Conley of the Fleming County Sheriff's Office observed a vehicle on Kentucky Route 11 near Maysville, Kentucky, with a male driver and a female passenger who appeared to be involved in a physical altercation. Deputy Conley attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver, 48-year-old Terry Darnell Jackson, exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area. During a physical struggle, Deputy Conley opened fire, killing Jackson. Jackson was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Deputy Conley was treated for minor injuries at Meadowview Regional Medical Center and was subsequently placed on administrative leave, per department policy.

On March 29, 2021, troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol attempted to stop a vehicle that was already being pursued. Despite the attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Josiah Griffith, fled from the trooper. The vehicle entered Blairtown Connection Road before coming to a stop on 5th Avenue West. The vehicle then moved forward again, went down an embankment, and came to a stop. When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered Griffith dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On March 29, 2021, Springfield Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at the Bass Pro call center on East Kearney Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 33-year-old Troy Rapp deceased from gunshot wounds. Witnesses identified 28-year-old Joshua A. Anderson as the shooter. Anderson fled the scene, leading to a police pursuit that ended when Anderson crashed his vehicle near Glenstone Avenue and Kearney Street. Officers found Anderson with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries on April 1, 2021.

On March 28, 2021, deputies with the Greensville County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call at the Quality Motel on U.S. Route 301. The caller complained of a white Ford Crown Victoria playing loud music in the parking lot. When a deputy arrived, the vehicle, driven by Daiquan Tarez Wright, was seen leaving the motel at a high rate of speed. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but Wright fled down Liberty Road, reaching speeds of 60 mph. Wright's vehicle ran through standing water, lost control, struck a mailbox and fire hydrant, and then crashed into a tree, resulting in his death.

On March 27, 2021, at the Oklahoma County Jail located at 201 North Shartel Avenue in Oklahoma City, inmate Curtis Montrell Williams, aged 34, took a detention officer hostage on the 10th floor. Williams held a makeshift weapon to the officer's throat, leading to a standoff. Oklahoma City Police Department officers, including Lt. Coy Gilbert and Officer Kevin Kuhlman, responded to the situation. Upon entering the pod, they observed Williams threatening the officer's life. In response, both officers discharged their firearms, fatally striking Williams. The detention officer was rescued and treated for injuries sustained during the incident.

On 03/26/2021, around 6: 10 a.m., Massachusetts State Police responded to a robbery at a 7-Eleven located at 30 Liberty St. in Quincy. Surveillance footage showed a man, identified as Eric Michael Leach, looking through the store's windows before entering six minutes later, allegedly robbing the store with a handgun and escaping with approximately $330. A customer provided a description of Leach to the police. Officers began a search and cornered Leach against a fence in a residential area. Leach reportedly did not comply with police commands, and an attempt to use a Taser was unsuccessful. A foot chase ensued, during which Leach entered a police cruiser, started it, and drove towards officers, who dodged out of the way. He fled, hitting several police vehicles during the pursuit. The chase ended at Burgin Parkway and Route 3 where Leach stopped the cruiser, which was then surrounded by police. After about an hour, Leach managed to move the damaged cruiser but was stopped by stop sticks. During negotiations, Leach was seen with a police patrol rifle and began exiting the vehicle with it, leading to a Massachusetts State Police trooper shooting and killing him.

A woman exited the vehicle and began running away, at which point the driver of the SUV allegedly fired a handgun at her. A Virginia State Police trooper and a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer responded to the scene and engaged the driver, shooting and killing him.

Around 3 a.m., a person in a vehicle allegedly fired shots at a deputy from the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office. On March 24, 2021, officers from the Yakima Police Department and Yakima County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault at a Taco Bell around 5:10 p.m. A 22-year-old woman informed police that her 41-year-old former boyfriend had assaulted her and stolen her car. She reported that he had shown up at her workplace, requested a ride, and after she agreed, he assaulted her, placed her hands in zip ties, and forced her to pull into a parking lot. A Yakima County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle by ramming it, but the chase continued until the suspect eventually stopped. The man then pulled out a gun and fatally shot himself.

On March 24, 2021, U.S. Marshals and Phoenix Police officers responded to a call regarding a man who had fled a Home Depot after allegedly stealing tools. A witness followed the individual, and a collision occurred as the vehicle continued to flee. On March 23, 2021, at approximately 5:51 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported that a man was firing a gun in the 100 block of West 29th Street in Anderson, Indiana. Witnesses stated that Irvin Silas Myers pointed a firearm at an officer, who ordered him to drop the weapon. An exchange of gunfire ensued, and Myers was shot and killed by the officer.

Courtney Wright, 30, sped through a red light after a Lake Wales police officer clocked him going 98 mph in a 60 mph zone. The officer activated his lights and siren and attempted to pull Wright over, but he continued driving. As the vehicle approached the intersection of U.S. 27 and Chalet Suzanne Road, Wright began to change lanes, weaving through traffic at high speed. He failed to stop at a red light and crashed his 2010 gray Chevrolet Equinox into a 2003 gray Chevrolet Silverado driven by bystander Raymond Hart, 80, who was killed in the collision.

On March 21, 2021, at approximately 7:19 p.m., deputies from the Chaves County Sheriff's Office went to a property on 6400 Shadow Road in Dexter, New Mexico, to serve Sergio Gutierrez Chairez, 31, with two outstanding arrest warrants. Upon arrival, deputies observed Chairez outside the residence but were unable to enter due to a locked gate and fencing.

After obtaining a search warrant, deputies entered the property, at which point Chairezlocked himself inside a semi-truck parked on the premises. Negotiations to convince Chairez to surrender were unsuccessful. Deputies eventually breached the semi-truck, and a deputy discharged their firearm, fatally striking Chairez.

Several hours into the standoff, a drone was used to assess the situation, revealing that the man was deceased inside his residence from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The driver of the semi-mule was not injured, but Cynthia Demp, the driver of the Camry, was killed in the crash.

On March 21, 2021, around 12:15 a.m., deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an argument involving a firearm between a man and a woman at a home in Taycheedah. Deputies interviewed the woman and later stopped a vehicle that left the scene. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies found the man hiding in the trunk. When confronted, the man allegedly pulled out a gun. Deputies surrounded the vehicle and attempted to negotiate with the man for several minutes before he shot and killed himself.

On March 21, 2021, around 6 p.m., a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol spotted a speeding 2018 Porsche Macan on Interstate 275. The officer activated lights and sirens, initiating a pursuit. The chase lasted about a minute and a half before the driver, 14-year-old Alexander Lara, lost control of the vehicle.

On March 23, 2021, U.S. Marshals attempted to arrest 32-year-old Frankie Jennings at a gas station in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jennings was wanted on multiple warrants, including assault with a deadly weapon against law enforcement and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. During the attempted arrest, Jennings reportedly reached for a firearm inside his vehicle. Senior Inspector Eric Tillman fired three shots, fatally wounding Jennings. Duncan, 38, was asked to exit his vehicle. Officers engaged him in an altercation. Backup officers arrived and claim they encountered Duncan exhibiting aggressive behavior. Officers deployed a police dog. After Duncan was restrained, he experienced a medical emergency. Officers administered multiple doses of Narcan. His cause of death was never disclosed.

On March 20, 2021, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Toledo Police officers initiated a vehicle chase near Monroe Street and Bancroft Street in Toledo, Ohio. The driver, identified as 15-year-old Nasir Devon Islam, lost control of the vehicle while attempting a turn during the chase, causing it to overturn and collide with a brick building. Islam was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two passengers, aged 14 and 15, sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

On March 18, 2021, deputies from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office arrived at 14554 Pecan Road in Keithville, Louisiana, to execute an arrest warrant for an individual other than William "Billy" Walls, a 68-year-old male. Walls, a neighbor, permitted deputies to search his mobile home. During the search, Walls became agitated and attempted to re-enter his residence. For officer safety, he was detained and placed in the back of a patrol car. While in custody, Walls experienced a medical emergency. Deputies removed him from the vehicle and initiated CPR until emergency medical services arrived. Walls was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputy Ryan Chapman was later indicted on charges of malfeasance in office in connection with Walls' death. The indictment alleges that Chapman handcuffed Walls without reasonable suspicion of a crime, leading to his asphyxiation. Malfeasance in office is a felony that carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

The driver, 51-year-old Shawn Mark Babineaux, did not stop. Police escalated a chase exceeding 100 miles per hour and allegedly "called off the chase" immediately before the crash.
