OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On February 1, 2025, Elk Grove police attempted to stop a Ford Explorer with no license plates near Auberry Drive and Spengler Drive. The driver did not stop, and officers chased him through southern Sacramento County. Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies joined the chase. The pursuit continued until the area of Sunrise Greens Drive and Elsie Avenue, where the driver allegedly fired at the officers and deputies chasing him and struck a Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle.
The chase ended at 69th Street and Lemon Hill Avenue when an Elk Grove officer used a patrol vehicle to ram the driver's car. Another Elk Grove officer exited and opened fire, striking the driver, who was pronounced dead at the crash site. A female passenger in the vehicle was not injured. Sacramento Police Department is leading the investigation.
