On January 28, 2025, deputies from the Travis County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance in the 14200 block of FM 2769 in Leander, Texas. A caller reported that his father was holding his mother at gunpoint. Upon arrival, deputies heard a woman screaming inside the residence. They entered and observed an elderly man holding a gun to a woman's head. After the man refused commands to drop the weapon, a deputy shot and killed him to protect the woman. No one else was injured in the incident.
