OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On January 6, 2025, Houston Police Department officers responded to reports of a man vandalizing vehicles and attempting to enter a residence in Houston, Texas. Upon locating the man, he fled on foot, leading to a pursuit. Officer Zhu apprehended him, and during the ensuing altercation, the man seized Officer Zhu's service weapon and fired it. In response, another officer discharged multiple shots, fatally wounding the man. The Houston Police Department has released body camera footage of the incident.
