On October 5, 2021, U.S. deputy marshals were serving an arrest warrant on 43-year-old Daniel Garcia in a parking lot near the Whispering Wind apartment complex in Corpus Christi, Texas. During the operation, Garcia was shot and killed. It was reported that Garcia was unarmed at the time of the shooting.
