On September 22, 2024, Andrea Nicole Garcia, 31, was found unresponsive in the booking section of the Bexar County Jail. Inmates alerted deputies around 3:13 a.m. that Garcia "didn't look well." Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at 3:45 a.m. Preliminary reports indicated that Garcia experienced a medical episode exacerbated by detoxing conditions. The official cause of death was to be determined by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.
Garcia had been booked into the jail on September 21, 2024, on charges of theft over $1,500 with two or more previous convictions and failure to identify.
