On 05/08/2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., a Castro County Sheriff's Office deputy responded to a report of a person trespassing on a residential property located on Farm-to-Market Road 1055. Upon locating the man, identified as 34-year-old Lierme Reyes, an exchange of gunfire occurred between Reyes and the deputy. Both individuals sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Reyes died from his injuries at the hospital. The deputy's injuries were non-life-threatening, and he is currently recovering. The deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which is being conducted by the Texas Rangers.

On May 7, 2025, around 9:00 p.m., a deputy from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a 2014 Kia Optima driven by 36-year-old Isaiah Thomas of Thibodaux, who was wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation. Thomas drove northbound on Louisiana Highway 308 at a high rate of speed. Police escalated a pursuit. The deputy allegedly called off the chase; however, Thomas attempted to pass a northbound 2024 Nissan Frontier in a marked no-passing zone and collided head-on with a southbound 2021 Honda Accord. The Kia then sideswiped the Nissan and a southbound 2023 Ford F-150. Thomas, who was unrestrained, sustained fatal injuries and died at the crash site. All other drivers involved were properly restrained and sustained either minor injuries or were uninjured. Standard blood toxicology samples were collected from Thomas for analysis. All other drivers involved voluntarily submitted breath or blood toxicology samples for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Upon arrival, they encountered a barricade situation involving a man holding two individuals hostage. After several hours of negotiations, the man released the hostages, who were unharmed. The driver, 46-year-old Brett Osborne of Richmond, Texas, did not stop, Police escalated a high-speed chase through multiple jurisdictions in the greater Houston area. The pursuit concluded near the intersection of Community Reach Boulevard and Mound Road in Hockley, Harris County. When officers approached the stopped vehicle, they discovered Osborne had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. No other individuals were injured during the incident.

On May 5, 2025, deputies from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check at a home in the 10000 block of Mustang Circle. After receiving no response, deputies heard a gunshot. A drone was deployed and revealed four deceased individuals inside with gunshot wounds. The deceased included Leroy Sadler, 60; his wife Judy Sadler; their son James Sadler; and granddaughter Adalynn Sadler. The deaths of Judy, James, and Adalynn were ruled homicides. Leroy Sadler is believed to be the shooter in an apparent murder-suicide.

A short time later, the man was seen on Reynolds Street firing at a passing vehicle. A homeowner confronted him and returned fire, wounding him. The man fled again and was later located in an alley on Howden Street. When he pointed his weapon at officers, they opened fire and killed him. On 05/04/2025 around 11:15 p.m., Racine Police attempted to arrest a man wanted in connection with a violent domestic abuse assault from earlier that day. As officers approached near 17th Street and Franklin Street, the man attempted to flee in a vehicle but crashed about half a block away. After exiting the vehicle, police say he raised a handgun, and an officer opened fire, killing him at the scene. The officer was wearing a body camera and has been placed on administrative leave. On May 4, 2025, at approximately 9:50 p.m., deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute involving a firearm at a residence on Bryson Heights Drive in Simpsonville. Upon arrival, deputies were able to safely remove the victim from the home. The man, identified as 34-year-old James Daniel Webster Jr., remained inside the residence. Police shot and killed him under undisclosed circumstances. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is conducting an independent investigation, as per standard protocol.

On May 4, 2025, Tulsa police officers responded to a chaotic shooting scene near East 2nd Street South and South Elgin Avenue during a large gathering. Officers were already on-site due to the size of the crowd when multiple people began shooting. Officers identified 21-year-old Thurman Wilson as one of the armed individuals firing from behind them. On May 4, 2025, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Officer Patrick Burke responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Normandy Estates Mobile Home Park. A woman reported that her boyfriend, Michael Lee Wright, had attacked her earlier that day. Upon arrival, Officer Burke encountered Wright, who aggressively confronted the officer by attacking the patrol vehicle and jumping onto its hood. Wright then charged at Officer Burke with an object in his hand, later identified as a pair of scissors. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, Wright continued his assault. The man fired again, hitting the officer in the shoulder. The man was later found dead at the scene. The injured officer was transported to a hospital in stable condition. On 05/03/2025 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Pine Bluff Police responded to a domestic violence call at the Park View Apartments at 300 W. 13th Street. A man had barricaded himself inside an apartment, and a standoff ensued. After hours of attempted negotiation, 54-year-old Melvin Sanders surrendered and was taken into custody with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand while 43-year-old Yashika Morris was killed during the standoff. Sanders was charged with capital murder.

On May 9, 2025, just before 11:00 p.m., ALEA troopers say 44-year-old Willie T. Wills of Moundville attempted to evade a Brent Police Department traffic stop on Alabama Highway 5 near mile marker 84, approximately two miles south of Brent. Wills’ 2024 Dodge Hornet collided head-on with a 2019 GMC Acadia driven by a 41-year-old Brent man, Jason G. Corley. Wills, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Acadia and two juvenile passengers sustained injuries and were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa and local hospitals. Multiple agencies assisted the response, including Brent and Centreville fire departments, Brierfield Rescue, and local EMS. The crash remains under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.

On May 2, 2025, a 28-year-old man was shot and killed by police officers in Brooklyn after a police chase for an allegedly stolen Porsche. The NYPD's Community Response Team was searching for stolen vehicles when they identified the Porsche as suspicious and attempted to pull it over. The driver fled on the Belt Parkway, and officers set up roadblocks to intercept the car. The driver swerved off the road toward officers and the roadblock, nearly hitting an officer. On 05/02/2025, Jorge Valerio Martinez was pulled over by North Aurora police for an apparent license plate violation. Officers observed signs of intoxication, and Martinez was taken into custody.
