On October 10, 2024, Roxanne E. Otero, 48, was found unresponsive in her cell at the Bexar County Jail. She was pronounced dead at 6:39 p.m. Preliminary reports indicated that Otero experienced a medical episode exacerbated by her detoxing conditions. The official cause of death was to be determined by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.
Otero had been booked into the jail on October 7, 2024, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
