On April 28, 2025, Jerome Cooper, 51, allegedly shot a 32-year-old man in the abdomen during a carjacking at a Public Storage facility near G Street and East Hunting Park Avenue in Philadelphia. A 29-year-old witness reportedly exchanged gunfire with Cooper during the incident.
Cooper fled in the victim's Toyota Camry, leading police on a high-speed chase through multiple districts. During the pursuit, Cooper allegedly fired at officers, with evidence of a fired cartridge casing found on the 700 block of East Cheltenham Avenue.
The chase concluded when Cooper's vehicle crashed into a tree in a grassy median at Roosevelt Boulevard and Langdon Street in the city's Summerdale section. As Cooper exited the vehicle armed, seven officers discharged their weapons, striking him multiple times. He was transported to Jefferson Einstein Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 32-year-old shooting victim was hospitalized in stable condition. The involvement of the 29-year-old witness is under investigation.

On April 28, 2025, at approximately 7:56 p.m., Jessica Sarah Vaux, a 32-year-old woman from St. Francis, Minnesota, was involved in a fatal crash during a police pursuit. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Vaux drove away from a traffic stop, was chased by police unti she rear-ended a 2022 International semi-truck on westbound Interstate 94 at mile marker 56 in Buse Township. Vaux died at the scene. The 26-year-old semi driver from St. Cloud was uninjured. Road conditions were reported as wet. The Clay County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation into the incident.

On April 27, 2025, at approximately 4:36 p.m., officers responded to a residence regarding a man in crisis with a self-inflicted neck wound. Inside the home, Derick P. Morgan, 56, held a knife and, according to investigators, charged toward a Marion police officer. A Grant County Sheriff’s deputy fired, striking Morgan, who died at the scene. Indiana State Police is the lead agency; findings will be forwarded to the Grant County Prosecutor.

At approximately 12:09 a.m. on April 27, 2025, a Virginia State Police trooper observed a motorcycle traveling over 100 mph on eastbound I-66 near Nutley Street in Fairfax County. The trooper initiated a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist drove away. Police escalated a chase to unknown speeds and stated that the trooper called off the chase “due to safety reasons,” not otherwise specified. Shortly thereafter, the fleeing motorcycle crashed into rear passenger side of an SUV, caught on fire which the trooper and then responding firefighters extinguished. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the crash site. The SUV driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The incident remains under investigation.

Deputies from the Benzie County Sheriff's Office attempted a traffic stop on a stolen SUV linked to an assault complaint in Antrim County. The driver did not stop. Deputies escalated a westbound chase on M-115. Approximately 1.5 miles into the pursuit, at unknown speed, the SUV crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound van carrying six Charlevoix High School varsity golf team members and their coach. The fleeing driver was killed. All occupants of the van were injured and transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, with the coach airlifted via Aero-Med helicopter.

On April 27, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a Justin Police Department officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as 54-year-old Eric Michael Watkins, failed to stop and continued driving to a residence in the 100 block of Daisey Lane. Upon arrival at the residence, Watkins exited the vehicle and fled into the backyard while armed with a firearm. When he emerged from the backyard, officers issued multiple commands for him to drop the weapon. Watkins allegedly raised the firearm in a threatening manner toward the officers, prompting one officer to discharge their service weapon, striking Watkins. Officers rendered aid at the scene, and Watkins was transported to Medical City Denton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.The Texas Rangers are conducting an independent investigation into the incident, as is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings in Texas.

On April 26, 2025, at approximately 10:17 p.m., a police pursuit in Houston, Texas, began a chase when Precinct 7 Constable deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding at over 90 miles per hour without headlights. After the vehicle exited the freeway and continued to drive, Precinct 3 Constable deputies resumed the pursuit. The man being chased ran a red light and sped at over 90 miles per hour without headlights until he lost control of the vehicle, crashing.

The occupants exited the vehicle on foot, and while a deputy turned around to pursue, one manwas struck by the pursuing patrol vehicle. The patrol vehicle struck the man, dragging him approximately 10 feet before becoming dislodged. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On the night of April 26, 2025, around 11:50 p.m., Myrtle Beach Police responded to reports of a large disturbance in the 900 block of North Ocean Boulevard. Officers arriving on scene observed an altercation in which someone opened fire into a crowd. One officer returned fire, fatally striking 18-year-old Jerrius Davis of Bennettsville. Eleven other individuals sustained gunshot-related injuries and were taken to area hospitals. The responding officer was uninjured and has been placed on administrative leave. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is conducting an independent investigation; MBPD is conducting an internal review. The police report states the shooting was classified as a “justifiable homicide.”

Deputies attempted to serve a TPO during a stop of an RV driven by James Blake Montgomery, 38. Montgomery produced a converted fully automatic 9mm AR-style pistol and opened fire, killing Deputy Brandon Sikes and critically injuring Deputy Gavin White. Deputies returned fire; Montgomery crashed trying to flee and was later found dead in the RV. Explosives (including pipe bombs), firearms and bomb-making materials were recovered.

On April 26, 2025, Prince William County police officers responded to a call at the Westminster at Lake Ridge senior living facility in Woodbridge, Virginia, regarding a 26-year-old man in crisis armed with a knife. Upon arrival, officers encountered the man in his grandmother's apartment. The man lunged at the officers with the knife, prompting them to fire their weapons. On April 26, 2025, North Charleston Police attempted a traffic stop on a 2014 U-Haul box truck at Dorchester Road and Meeting Street Road. On April 26, 2025, deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 6400 block of Emerald Dunes Drive. Upon arrival, deputies saw 20-year-old Alonzo Riser actively stabbing his father with a sword. After giving verbal commands that were not followed, a deputy opened fire, striking and killing Alonzo. On 04/25/2025, New York State Police attempted to stop a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck on Route 9W in Newburgh for traffic violations. The driver did not stop. Troopers escalated a high-speed chase on Route 9W, then onto State Route 32, and finally westbound on Interstate 84. Troopers claimed that they discontinued the pursuit due to speeds, and shortly after, the pickup truck collided with a tractor (without a trailer) and crashed off the shoulder of I-84. On 04/25/2025, 64-year-old Richard Harvey Daugherty was fatally shot by law enforcement during a standoff in Okeechobee County, Florida. The incident began when deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on NW 50th Avenue, where they found one person deceased. Daugherty had barricaded himself inside the home. John Snyder, 37, was fatally shot by a Polk County Sheriff's deputy on April 25, 2025, after allegedly moving toward a deputy with a knife near a McDonald's on U.S. 92 in Lakeland. On April 24, 2025, officers arrived at Devicco Moss's home in Thomson to execute a search warrant related to a homicide investigation. Moss fled in a blue Chevrolet Silverado. Police escalated a high-speed chase, during which a Georgia Department of Public Safety officer’s vehicle overturned, injuring the officer. Police continued the chase until Moss crashed into a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Ridge Road and Washington Highway, resulting in a fiery crash that killed Moss. The tractor-trailer driver was unharmed.

On April 24, 2025, Richland police conducted a traffic stop on a recreational vehicle (RV) traveling along U.S. Highway 49. During the stop, the driver, 77-year-old Abdullah Chetin of Ocala, Florida, allegedly pulled out a firearm and began shooting at officers. An exchange of gunfire ensued, and Chetin barricaded himself inside the RV. After a standoff, additional gunfire was exchanged, resulting in Chetin being fatally shot. No officers were injured during the shooting; however, an officer responding to the scene was involved in a separate traffic accident and received medical attention at a local hospital. On 04/24/2025, Jacob Faulstich Jr., a 30-year-old White male from Marrero, Louisiana, died in a crash while fleeing from St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's deputies. Deputies made contact with Faulstich, who then drove away northbound on U.S. Highway 51 in a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. Police escalated the situation into a high-speed pursuit. As the chase approached Woodland Drive, Faulstich attempted to overtake another vehicle, causing his Camaro to collide with the front left of the other car. The impact caused Faulstich to lose control of his vehicle, which then ran off the road and struck a traffic signal pole. Faulstich, who was unrestrained at the time, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were properly restrained and uninjured. The crash remains under investigation.

Upon arrival, officers encountered several individuals, including 24-year-old Damario Smith. When officers attempted to make contact, Smith fled on foot. During the pursuit, Smith allegedly produced a handgun, prompting officers to discharge their firearms. Smith was struck and later pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital. He had been wanted for armed robbery and aggravated assault and had previously removed an ankle monitor while out on bond.

On April 23, 2025, at approximately 8:40 a.m., officers from the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police responded to a report of a man allegedly pointing a firearm at another individual in the 700 block of Dana, Indiana. Upon arrival, officers established defensive positions as 57-year-old Michael Landers exited the residence while brandishing a gun. The Terre Haute Police Department’s Special Response Team was called to assist. According to preliminary investigations, Landers pointed his weapon directly at officers. An officer opened fire, striking Landers. Medical aid was administered at the scene, and Landers was transported to a hospital in Clinton, Indiana, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave, and the incident is under investigation by the Indiana State Police.

The man, identified as 34-year-old Vincent Morin, was dressed in battle fatigues with body armor and a communications headset, and had two additional magazines in his vest. Deputies issued multiple commands for Morin to drop his weapon, but he did not comply. Three deputies—Lt. William Gergel, Deputy Matthew Fluck, and Deputy Courtney Baldwin—then discharged their firearms, striking Morin. Fields had previously served 20 years in Connecticut for murder and was wanted for parole violations. Officer Nathan Anderson opened fire, shooting the man. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Another individual believed to be waiting in a vehicle fled the scene and has not been located. The Texas Rangers are conducting an independent investigation.

On April 22, 2025, deputies from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on a Lexus sedan near East 18th Street and Willow Avenue in Antioch. The driver, 50-year-old Victor Vigil of Pittsburg, did not stop. Deputies escalated a pursuit. Vigil drove southbound on Highway 160 and entered the northbound lanes. Deputies discontinued the pursuit, but Vigil continued driving. Shortly after, Vigil collided head-on with a Mercedes SUV at the Highway 4 and Highway 160 interchange. The crash also involved a Dodge Caliber and a Honda Civic. Vigil died at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a trauma center. Two occupants of the Dodge were also hospitalized. The incident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.
