On November 25, 2023, at approximately noon, 49-year-old inmate Raul Ortiz Jr. was found unresponsive in his cell during a routine status check at the Larimer County Jail. A full forensic autopsy conducted on November 27, 2023, determined the cause of death to be mixed drug toxicity involving methamphetamine and fentanyl, with the manner of death ruled as accidental.
