On 02/26/2024, Lamon Moore, 36, fled the courtroom at the Community Justice Campus in Indianapolis while jurors were deliberating in his trial on felony charges. Deputies pursued him from the courthouse after he ran from custody. Authorities later located his vehicle at an apartment complex near 30th Street and Baltimore Avenue.
Marion County Sheriff’s deputies and SWAT officers surrounded the apartment and established a perimeter. Negotiators attempted to contact Moore for several hours. After the standoff, deputies entered the apartment and found Moore dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office led the response. Public reporting confirmed the death was ruled a suicide.
